The Best Day of My Life Lesson

COMPUTER LAB SESSION
MARCH 23rd, 2013

THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE

Objectives (Students will be able to):

1. Properly use tenses applied to talking about personal experiences.
2. Learn new vocabulary through research.
3. Practice their speaking skills through group work.
4. Effectively apply team work.

Agenda:

1. Set pairs or groups of three.
2. Students will read and follow the instructions posted below.
3. Part I: Coming to an agreement. (Speak English Only)
4. Part II: Do research (collect images, videos, or any type of media/information)
5. Part III: Create a PowerPoint presentation with the content previously gathered.

Instructions:

By this point, you should have been assigned to a group already. As a group, you will have to do some research and create a PowerPoint presentation about "The Best Days of Your Life". Do the following:

1. Imagine what the best days of your life in the future would be like and work based on that. For this first step you will need to do some brainstorming.

This is a very brief video showing us how to brainstorm (it has no audio): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puR33K6fj-E

You will have 15 minutes to brainstorm as a group.

2. You will now have 45 minutes to do some research and gather the content you will include in the PowerPoint presentation (information, pictures, links, ect.). Take note of 15 new vocabulary words found during your research. These words have to be included in your presentation. You must speak English only.

3. Now, you will have another 45 minutes to start working on the PowerPoint presentation. Be as creative as possible. Remember you must speak English only. For the PowerPoint presentation you will have the following rules:

a. You cannot include complete sentences or paragraphs, only include short phrases or key words. So this means no copy/paste is allowed.
b. You cannot use Google´s translator.
c. You need to include pictures as a minimum requirement, you then have the choice to include short videos.

We will now watch this video in which we will see what things we are not supposed to do with PowerPoint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpvgfmEU2Ck

4. You will only use one computer per group. So this means that one person will control the computer and the other two must give instructions. We will rotate positions every 15 minutes.

The groups will present their work today or after vacation, depending on how much time we have left. All members must participate when presenting. This project will be evaluated by your teacher.

It´s Show Time!!!
